Civic agencies have begun urgent road patchwork in Kolkata and Salt Lake after monsoon rain damaged road surfaces and exposed potholes. The immediate focus is on stretches where the top layer has been washed away, making travel more difficult and raising safety concerns for commuters.
According to the available details, KMC and BMC have taken up repair work to address the worst-hit roads. The effort appears to be a quick-response measure aimed at restoring damaged surfaces and reducing the impact of fresh rain on already weakened stretches.
The repair push is not limited to city roads. KMDA is also carrying out work on the Durgapur bridge, adding to the broader monsoon-related infrastructure response. This suggests that multiple agencies are dealing with weather-linked wear and damage across different parts of the region.
In a parallel step, NKDA has floated tenders worth Rs 83 lakh for repair work. Together, the emergency patching, bridge repairs and fresh tenders indicate a wider effort to tackle monsoon damage and improve road conditions in Kolkata, Salt Lake and nearby areas.
