The Assam Cabinet has cleared a set of decisions covering rural credit, medical education, health recruitment and commodity procurement. Among the key approvals are a stamp duty waiver for certain Self-Help Group loans and changes to MBBS admission rules.
According to the cabinet decision, stamp duty will be waived on individual loan documents executed by Self-Help Group members under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission. The benefit will apply to loans of up to Rs 10 lakh, removing that charge for eligible borrowers in this category.
The cabinet also approved rule changes related to MBBS admissions. In a separate move connected to the health sector, it cleared new rules that will govern the recruitment and service conditions of Ayurvedic medical officers.
Another decision taken at the meeting relates to supply and procurement. The state approved procurement of Masur Dal and sugar through NAFED for a specified period, adding another administrative measure to the list of cabinet clearances.
