Indian shooters Sonam Uttam Maskar and Elavenil Valarivan made the women's 10m air rifle final at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, giving India two finalists in a high-level field. Their progress to the medal round added another encouraging chapter for the Indian shooting squad.
In the final standings, Sonam placed fifth and Elavenil finished sixth. Although neither shooter reached the podium in this event, both stayed competitive through the qualification stage and earned places among the finalists.
The result was especially notable for Sonam Uttam Maskar, whose run reflected continued improvement on the international stage. Elavenil Valarivan, an Olympian and one of India's better-known rifle shooters, also remained in the mix and helped underline the team's depth in women's air rifle.
India's double presence in the Hangzhou final points to the country's growing strength in shooting events at major competitions. Even without a medal in the women's 10m air rifle, the performances from Sonam and Elavenil kept the focus on India's emerging and established talent at the ISSF World Cup.
