OnePlus is keeping its software update commitment, but the company’s Android experience is heading in a very different direction. According to the latest report, OxygenOS is being phased out, with the brand preparing to move its devices over to ColorOS instead.
The change is expected to take effect with Android 17, when all OnePlus devices will shift to ColorOS. That means the separate OxygenOS identity, long associated with OnePlus phones, is set to disappear as future updates align under a single software platform.
For users, the headline is that support is not ending. Devices should still receive software updates, but the look, feel and overall user experience may no longer match what longtime OnePlus owners have known under OxygenOS.
The move marks a major turning point for OnePlus software. While the brand remains present through ongoing updates, the end of OxygenOS signals a broader transformation in how OnePlus phones will be maintained and updated going forward.
