A NASA astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts have safely returned to Earth after spending 241 days aboard the International Space Station. Their trip home ended with the Soyuz MS-28 capsule landing in Kazakhstan, bringing an eight-month mission to a close.
The return followed the familiar final phase of a Soyuz mission, with a high-speed reentry through Earth’s atmosphere before touchdown on the Kazakh steppe. According to the report, the descent ended on target, marking a successful conclusion to the crew’s long stay in orbit.
The International Space Station has remained a key site for long-duration human spaceflight, and missions lasting many months continue to provide experience in living and working in microgravity. For the crew of Soyuz MS-28, the landing capped more than seven months of station operations and research.
The successful recovery also highlights the continuing role of Soyuz spacecraft in carrying astronauts and cosmonauts to and from the ISS. With the crew back on Earth, their 241-day station mission is now complete.
