The move comes after the original April races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were called off because of the Iran war and the wider security situation in the Middle East. With those events unable to go ahead as planned, F1 turned to Sepang as a replacement host.
Sepang is one of the sport's best-known circuits, and its selection gives the championship a ready-made venue for the relocated round. While the race will take place in Malaysia, the branding keeps it tied to Bahrain, underlining that this is a rescheduled edition of that grand prix rather than a separate new event.
