Lando Norris claimed the Hungarian Grand Prix with a composed drive for McLaren at the Hungaroring, sealing his first victory of the season. It was also McLaren’s first win of the year, giving the team a major result before Formula 1 heads into its summer break.
Once Norris moved to the front, he controlled the race with assurance and built his win on a calm, commanding performance. The result underlined McLaren’s pace in Hungary and gave Norris a timely boost after waiting several months to open his account for the campaign.
Oscar Piastri’s race ended in retirement, removing another key McLaren factor from the contest and shifting the shape of the afternoon. With Piastri out, Norris was left to carry the team’s challenge on his own and did so convincingly.
The race also affected the wider standings picture. Kimi Antonelli now takes a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton into the summer interval, adding extra significance to the Hungarian weekend as the season pauses before its next phase.
