Formula One has confirmed that Malaysia's Sepang circuit will host a replacement race for the Bahrain Grand Prix in October. The announcement means Sepang will step in on the revised calendar as the sport continues to adjust its schedule.
According to Formula One, the Malaysia race will be placed between the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sep 26 and the Singapore round on Oct 11. That puts Sepang into a key spot in the autumn stretch of the season.
The update was announced on Sunday, with Formula One saying the rescheduled Bahrain Grand Prix would be held at Sepang rather than in Bahrain. Sepang is one of the better-known venues on the calendar and now returns as part of the reworked run of races.
For teams and fans, the decision adds another Southeast Asian stop before the championship moves on to Singapore. It also gives Formula One a clear replacement for Bahrain while maintaining the flow of races across late September and October.
