Willmar’s American Legion baseball season came to a close Friday night with a 7-0 loss to Cold Spring Post 455 in the Sub-State 11 Division I playoffs in Sartell.
Cold Spring controlled the game on the mound, with pitcher Jace Griffin delivering a one-hit shutout. Griffin worked without allowing a walk and finished with one strikeout in a highly efficient outing.
The result ended Willmar’s postseason run and closed out its summer campaign. Cold Spring’s pitching and run support kept Willmar from building any momentum at the plate throughout the playoff matchup.
For Willmar, the defeat marked the end of the road in Sub-State 11 Division I play. For Cold Spring, the 7-0 victory stood out as a dominant postseason performance built around a one-hit effort from Griffin.
