Exeter Post 32 was shut out by Bedford Post 54 on Saturday in the New Hampshire American Legion state tournament, falling 3-0 at Holman Stadium in Nashua. The result sends Exeter into its next game with little room for error.
The deciding stretch came in the sixth inning, when Bedford scored all three of its runs. Until then, the game had remained close, but Exeter could not answer after Bedford broke through late.
With the loss, Post 32 moves on to an elimination game against Keene on Sunday. That matchup now becomes the next step for Exeter as it tries to stay alive in the state tournament.
For Exeter, the focus turns quickly from a tightly contested loss to a win-or-go-home test. After being held scoreless by Bedford, Post 32 will need a better offensive response against Keene to keep its tournament run going.
