The move comes as the government prepares broader action on exam integrity. According to the available details, the decision was announced a day before a Bill was expected to be introduced in the Lok Sabha to amend the existing law aimed at preventing unfair practices in public examinations such as NEET.
The new group is expected to review how the National Testing Agency functions and recommend ways to strengthen its processes. The emphasis appears to be on reducing vulnerabilities, improving trust in examination systems and creating a framework that is better equipped to handle large national tests.
By bringing in Nilekani and other experts, the government is signaling that exam reform will not be limited to administrative fixes alone.
