Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas that India would not hold talks with Pakistan on any subject other than Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Speaking in Srinagar, he drew a firm line on New Delhi’s position and linked any possible dialogue directly to the issue of PoK.
Singh also said India is fully capable of responding strongly to any hostile move from Pakistan. His remarks underscored a broader security message, stressing that any misadventure would be met with a severe response.
The minister further pointed to Pakistan’s long-standing association with terrorism as a major barrier to normal engagement. He indicated that this policy, along with Islamabad’s close ties with forces seen as hostile to India, continues to shape India’s approach to the bilateral relationship.
The comments came during Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day that commemorates India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil conflict. Against that backdrop, Singh’s statement reinforced a hardline stance on national security, cross-border threats and the unresolved question of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
