PS5 emulation has taken another small but notable step forward, with the experimental SharpEmu project now able to bring Grand Theft Auto V to its loading screen. A clip shared on X reportedly shows the game logo and loading sequence appearing, which suggests the emulator is clearing more of the startup process than before.

That does not mean GTA 5 is playable on a PS5 emulator yet. Reaching a loading screen is still an early-stage result, but it is a visible sign that core compatibility is improving. For emulator followers, these moments matter because they show that more of a console's software behavior is being reproduced correctly.

The bigger takeaway is that this progress appears to be tied less to GTA 5 itself and more to broader work inside the emulator. Improvements to low-level systems, boot handling, and general game support can create breakthroughs across multiple titles, even when a high-profile game gets most of the attention.

SharpEmu remains an experimental effort, and PS5 emulation is still far from mature. Even so, getting a major title like GTA 5 to advance this far is another indication that development is moving forward, one technical milestone at a time.
