Russian forces launched overnight ballistic missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, with officials reporting at least six deaths and dozens of injuries. The strikes hit the capital early on Sunday before bombardments were reported in several other regions later in the day.

Ukrainian authorities said one of those killed was a nine-year-old child, underscoring the human toll of the latest wave of attacks. Emergency teams were deployed after the strikes, and local officials assessed the damage in affected areas.

Kyiv was among the main targets, with local authorities saying the city came under ballistic missile attack in the early hours. Other regions also faced bombardment as the attacks widened beyond the capital and added to the casualties.

The latest barrage marks another escalation in Russia's continued air assault on Ukraine, with missiles and drones again being used against urban areas. Officials said the overnight attacks left communities dealing with deaths, injuries and fresh destruction across multiple parts of the country.
