India's maritime authority has issued a strong warning for Indian seafarers and ship operators working in or near conflict-hit waters, with particular focus on the Black Sea. The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) said vessels should follow the highest level of caution while operating in the region.
The advisory comes after recent attacks in which five Indian seafarers lost their lives. Against that backdrop, the authority has urged Indian nationals to carefully assess the security situation before accepting assignments in conflict zones.
The warning applies not only to Indian-flagged ships but also to foreign vessels carrying Indian crew members. That broad scope shows the concern extends to all Indian seafarers who may be exposed to heightened risks in unstable maritime areas.
The move highlights growing safety concerns around commercial shipping routes affected by conflict. By stressing risk assessment and extra vigilance, the DGMA is signaling that job decisions and vessel operations in such regions should be made with far greater attention to security conditions.
