Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv early Sunday, sparking fires and wounding at least three civilians. The attack hit the Ukrainian capital in the latest wave of strikes to send emergency crews rushing to affected areas.
The violence was not limited to Kyiv. Attacks elsewhere in Ukraine later left at least two people dead, showing how the fighting continued across multiple parts of the country over the course of the day.
In a separate development, four people were reported dead in a Russian-held area that was hit by Ukrainian drones. The reports underscored how both Russian missile fire and Ukrainian drone operations are continuing to cause casualties far from the front line.
The new strikes add to the pattern of repeated aerial attacks seen throughout the war, with missiles and drones posing an ongoing threat to civilians and infrastructure. Fires, injuries and reported deaths from both sides' attacks marked another deadly day in and around Ukraine.
