Google Maps appears to be expanding its so-called 2026 update, with immersive navigation now reaching more users after an earlier limited release. Based on current reports, the wider availability is still centered on select regions, with most of the rollout happening in the United States.
The main change drawing attention is immersive navigation, a feature that gives directions a more visually detailed presentation. What had previously shown up for only a small number of users now seems to be appearing more broadly, suggesting Google has moved into a larger rollout phase.
The update is also being linked to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which means the refreshed navigation experience is not limited to phones alone. For drivers who rely on in-car screens, that could make the new Maps interface more useful during everyday trips and longer drives.
