Still, the main event between Magomed Ankalaev and late replacement Bogdan Guskov did not leave much of a lasting impression, with Ankalaev again seen as fighting in a controlled, cautious gear rather than delivering a breakout statement.
As a result, UFC Abu Dhabi is being remembered for two separate talking points: the backlash over the decision involving Rountree and the frustration surrounding Ankalaev’s latest showing.
