SAG-AFTRA’s national board has adopted a resolution opposing the proposed Paramount Skydance deal involving Warner Bros. Discovery, signaling a firmer stance from the performers union as scrutiny around the transaction continues. The move shows the union is willing to formally register its concerns about the media tie-up.
At the same time, SAG-AFTRA stopped short of taking the same legal path as the Writers Guild of America. While the WGA has pursued a lawsuit tied to the proposed deal, SAG-AFTRA has not joined that action, choosing instead to make its position known through internal leadership action and public opposition.
The decision places SAG-AFTRA somewhere between caution and escalation. Its resolution suggests growing unease inside organized labor over how another major entertainment combination could affect workers, jobs and the broader structure of the industry, even as the union avoids directly entering the current court fight.
