MGM+ has picked up "Embassy," a new action thriller series led by Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons. The project comes from AGC Television, Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios, adding another high-stakes original drama to the MGM+ lineup.

The series is set around a violent attack on the U.S. Embassy in London. According to the announced premise, armed mercenaries storm the building, throwing the mission into chaos and forcing Kendrick’s character, Layla, to make a critical decision under extreme pressure.

Layla is described as a sharp and resourceful American diplomat. As the crisis unfolds, she must choose between protecting the U.S. Ambassador, played by Simmons, or carrying out his orders to exfiltrate a high-value asset being held inside the embassy. That setup points to a tense, contained thriller built around competing duties, survival and political stakes.

With Kendrick, Heughan and Simmons attached, "Embassy" arrives with a prominent cast and a premise centered on a major international security emergency. MGM+’s pickup signals confidence in a series designed to blend action, suspense and diplomatic drama in a London-based setting.
