At the same time, Trump pointed to a separate track in US-Saudi relations: ongoing negotiations over a civil nuclear agreement. That issue has remained part of a broader diplomatic discussion between Washington and Riyadh, even as regional security concerns continue to draw attention.
Trump also repeated that Saudi Arabia would need to join the Abraham Accords for such a deal to move forward. By linking the nuclear talks to the accords, he signaled that the administration sees the agreement as connected to wider regional diplomacy rather than as a stand-alone arrangement.
The comments highlight a two-part US approach: staying outside the Saudi-Houthi conflict for now while continuing talks with Saudi Arabia on strategic issues.
