For followers hoping this marks the full comeback of Malaysia’s own Formula 1 round, the announcement is more limited than that. It confirms that Sepang will host an F1 weekend again, but it does not on its own signal the return of a standalone Malaysian Grand Prix on the championship calendar.
Even so, the decision puts Sepang back on the Formula 1 map and gives the country a major race weekend in early October 2026. The real deal is clear: F1 is back in Malaysia, but under Bahrain Grand Prix branding as a replacement-host arrangement.
