The increase came after the Department of Defense added the deaths of four service members killed in Iranian strikes last week and recorded more than 140 additional injuries.
The updated numbers were reflected through the Defense Casualty Analysis System, the Pentagon’s system for tracking military losses. That pushed the overall total significantly higher and underscored the growing human cost of the conflict for U.S. forces.
At the same time, the Pentagon has offered little public explanation alongside the rising figures. The limited official comment has drawn attention as the casualty total increases and new updates continue to emerge through formal reporting systems rather than detailed briefings.
