Montenegro will begin requiring visas for Turkish citizens from Nov. 1, 2026, ending a period in which the Adriatic country was widely seen as an easy visa-free destination for many travelers. The change is part of a broader policy shift that will also apply to citizens of four other countries.
According to the announcement from Podgorica, the new visa requirement is being introduced to bring Montenegro’s travel rules closer to those of the European Union. That alignment has become an important issue as the country continues adjusting its policies in line with EU standards.
For travelers from Türkiye, the move means future trips to Montenegro will involve an added administrative step after the new rules take effect.
