Newly declassified records appear to undercut President Donald Trump’s renewed claims that the 2020 election was stolen. In a 27-minute speech Thursday night, Trump argued that the vote had been “rigged,” but the documents released by his own administration point in a different direction.
The release covers more than 270 pages, according to the available details. Much of that material reportedly revisits information that was already known in 2020 and 2021, rather than revealing major new evidence that would support sweeping allegations of election fraud.
That contrast has become the central issue around the document dump. While Trump used the national address to press broad claims about the election, the declassified records described so far do not appear to provide the kind of proof needed to back those accusations.
