India needs to make artificial intelligence available to a much wider group of people if it wants to move faster in the sector, according to scientist Srijan Pal Singh. Speaking to RT India, he argued that the country’s AI push should not remain limited to a small set of institutions or specialists.
A central part of that message is the need to expand AI research beyond the Indian Institutes of Technology. Singh said broader participation would help India build a deeper talent base and support stronger innovation as the technology develops quickly.
He also pointed to the role of private companies in shaping India’s AI future. Bringing in more industry involvement, alongside academic work, could help turn research into practical tools and services that support the country’s wider digital growth.
His comments come as India continues building its presence in artificial intelligence. The broader argument is that democratizing AI access, widening research opportunities and encouraging business participation could help the country make bigger gains in a highly competitive field.
