An Ajmer resident was allegedly cheated out of Rs 3.59 lakh in an online credit card scam after contacting a phone number that was listed on Google. The case highlights the risk of relying on search-listed customer care numbers without verifying whether they belong to an official bank or card issuer.

According to the available details, the victim called what appeared to be a credit card support number and later lost a total of about Rs 3.6 lakh. The incident fits a growing pattern in which fraudsters use fake helpline listings and impersonation tactics to target people looking for urgent banking or card assistance.

A zero FIR was registered through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, or NCRP, allowing the complaint to be logged quickly even before it was handled by the local police unit. The matter has now been transferred to Ajmer cyber police for further investigation.

The case adds to repeated warnings about online financial fraud linked to fake customer support contacts. Cybercrime investigators routinely advise users to verify credit card and banking numbers only through official websites, apps, or printed documents before sharing any details or acting on instructions.
