A Chinese national charged in connection with a cannabis seizure valued at about €1.6 million in Co Cork has been refused bail. The case centers on Xiaochen Han, 30, who is accused over drugs found at a warehouse in the county.
The court was told Gardaí considered Han a serious flight risk. According to the account presented, the concern was heightened by his alleged lack of established ties to the State and the claim that he had come to Ireland illegally.
In refusing bail, the judge accepted the risk that Han could leave the jurisdiction if released. That ruling means he will remain in custody while the case continues through the courts.
