Japan has renewed its support for Nepal’s Human Resource Development Scholarship, or JDS, programme with a grant of ¥410 million, equivalent to about Rs. 383.4 million, for the 2026 fiscal year. The announcement was reported from Kathmandu, where the latest funding commitment was formalized.
The JDS programme is linked to Nepal’s civil service and broader human resource development efforts. With this grant, Japan is continuing its backing for a scholarship scheme designed to support capacity building in Nepal’s public sector.
According to the report, the funding was confirmed through a grant agreement for the upcoming fiscal year. The assistance underscores Japan’s ongoing role in supporting development-focused education and training initiatives in Nepal.
The new contribution also reflects the broader cooperative relationship between Japan and Nepal. By maintaining support for the JDS programme, Japan is helping sustain a long-running partnership focused on strengthening skills and institutional development.
