A Kolkata court has granted bail to 16 people arrested in connection with a protest linked to the NEET paper leak controversy. The order from Bankshall Court led to emotional scenes, with relatives and supporters greeting the development with flowers, embraces and tears.
The case had drawn attention because it was tied to public anger over the exam leak issue. Supporters of those arrested maintained that the accused had been falsely implicated, and the bail decision was seen by families as an important immediate relief.
While the order eases the legal pressure on the 16 accused for now, it does not settle the wider dispute around the protest or the allegations surrounding the NEET paper leak. The court’s decision mainly addresses their release on bail as the matter continues through the legal process.
