The Kerala High Court has directed the state government to ensure protection for the viral "Kumbh Mela girl" now in Kochi. The court said she must not be handed over to any person without its approval, putting the matter under direct judicial supervision.
According to the court's direction, she also cannot be moved out of Kochi unless the High Court permits it. Police protection has been ordered as part of the interim steps, indicating the court wants her safety and whereabouts to remain secure while the case is being examined.
The matter has drawn attention because the girl became widely known online, and the court appears to be taking a cautious approach before allowing any transfer or change in her situation. By restricting both custody-related decisions and relocation, the High Court has kept control over the next steps.
The case is scheduled to be heard again on August 4. Until then, the state government and police are expected to follow the court's instructions and maintain the safeguards ordered in Kochi.
