A powerful 7.3 earthquake struck along the southern Pacific coast of Mexico on Friday near the border with Guatemala, sending tremors across a wide stretch of the region. The shaking was reportedly felt far beyond the epicenter, reaching from Mexico City to El Salvador.
Early reports indicated that there was no major damage immediately after the quake, even though the tremor was strong and widely felt. Authorities were still responding as initial assessments came in from affected areas near the border.
At least two people were reported injured following the earthquake. While the extent of the impact appeared limited in the first updates, officials continued to monitor conditions and check for possible damage in communities closer to where the quake hit.
