Vodafone has chosen Lisbon, Portugal, as the base for a new Global Cyber Centre that will coordinate the company’s cybersecurity work worldwide. The move puts the operator’s global cyber efforts in one location as it strengthens protection across its international business.
According to the announcement, the Lisbon centre will take responsibility for Vodafone’s network and operational security on a global scale. That means the new unit is expected to play a central role in how the telecom group monitors risks and manages cyber defence across its systems and services.
Vodafone also plans to hire more than 40 specialists for the new operation. Those recruits will work alongside the company’s existing global cyber hubs, expanding the team that supports Vodafone’s wider security framework.
The plan highlights Lisbon’s growing importance within Vodafone’s technology and security strategy. Chief information security officer Emma Smith outlined the initiative as part of the company’s broader cyber approach, with the new Portugal hub set to become a key part of Vodafone’s global security operations.
