Formula One is preparing a European backup plan for the end of its season if the scheduled races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi cannot go ahead. The series has reportedly set a decision point in mid-September as it monitors whether the final rounds in the Middle East can be staged safely.
The issue is linked to the regional security situation and the possibility that the conflict involving Iran could affect major sporting events. With the championship calendar fixed well in advance, F1 needs time to decide whether it can keep the planned hosts or shift the finale elsewhere.
Chief executive Stefano Domenicali said the sport has an alternative in place, with Europe identified as the fallback region if Qatar and Abu Dhabi are unable to hold their races. That contingency would allow Formula One to complete the season without leaving the championship unresolved.
For now, Qatar and Abu Dhabi remain on the calendar, but the mid-September deadline shows how seriously F1 is treating the uncertainty. The final decision will depend on whether conditions in the region allow the events to be organized and delivered as planned.
