The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has urged the West Bengal government to appoint members of Gorkhaland Personnel (GLP) as Home Guards. The demand brings a security and recruitment issue to the center of the latest political discussion around Darjeeling.
Along with the call for GLP appointments, the party has also raised the issue of a probe into the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). By linking the Home Guards demand with the GTA matter, the GJM has widened its appeal beyond staffing and placed the focus on governance questions in the hill region.
