Police are investigating a gold jewellery theft at Chennai airport after a man posing as a Customs officer allegedly took a passenger’s necklace valued at around ₹12 lakh.

According to the initial account, the suspect impersonated an official and stole a gold necklace from a traveler at the airport. The case has drawn attention because of the way the theft was reportedly carried out, with the accused using a false identity linked to airport customs.

Authorities have registered a case and are trying to identify and locate the suspect. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from Chennai airport as part of the effort to trace his movements and establish how the theft happened.

The incident has raised concern over passenger safety and the misuse of official identities in high-security public spaces. Further updates are expected as police continue the investigation.
