Government data indicates a sharp rise in the number of Indians deported from the United States over the past two years. The total increased from 617 in 2023 to around 2,000 in 2025, pointing to a significant jump in removals involving Indian nationals.
The figures suggest that the US remains the main country from which Indians are being deported among the destinations mentioned in the data. The report also notes that 414 Indians faced deportation proceedings by March 2026, showing that the issue is continuing beyond the 2025 total.
Other countries also appeared in the government data, though at much lower levels. The United Kingdom deported 57 Indians, while Cyprus deported 53, highlighting that returns are taking place from multiple countries but on a much smaller scale than from the US.
Taken together, the numbers show a clear upward trend in deportations of Indians from the United States since 2023. They also underline how migration enforcement and visa compliance issues remain important parts of India’s overseas movement story.
