The reworked version of The Wizard of Oz at Sphere in Las Vegas could stay at the venue for many more years, according to company founder James Dolan. As the production nears its first anniversary, Dolan said he believes the title may continue playing there for another decade.
The project gives the 1939 film a new presentation designed for Sphere’s immersive format. The movie was reportedly tightened and retooled with help from Google DeepMind and other technology contributors, adapting the classic story for the venue’s large-scale visual environment.
Dolan’s comments suggest strong confidence in the film’s staying power as a Las Vegas attraction. If the run continues on that timeline, The Wizard of Oz would become a major long-term part of Sphere’s programming and a high-profile example of an older Hollywood title being reshaped for a new kind of theatrical experience.
The production also highlights the growing role of advanced tech in entertainment revivals. With a well-known classic, AI-related tools and Sphere’s distinctive presentation style, the Las Vegas run of The Wizard of Oz appears positioned as both a nostalgia play and a showcase for new exhibition methods.
