Authorities in Florida have arrested a 2-year-old girl’s father and another adult after the child’s death led to manslaughter charges. Police say the case centers on an alleged poisoning involving kratom pills and a failure to get urgent medical help when the toddler showed clear signs of distress.
According to investigators, the girl’s lips turned blue, she suffered a seizure and her breathing became abnormal after ingesting the pills. Police said neither adult called 911 or took the child to a hospital, despite the seriousness of her condition.
