Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Lebanon is among the countries that could benefit most from a climate of peace and cooperation in the Middle East. He made the remarks during a joint press conference with Lebanese President Aoun, presenting Lebanon as a state that has long paid a high price for regional competition and instability.
According to Erdoğan’s comments, Lebanon has suffered heavily over the years as outside rivalries and conflict played out across the region. He described Lebanon as a brotherly country and linked its future prospects to a broader reduction in tensions in the Middle East.
The appearance with President Aoun highlighted the diplomatic tone of the meeting and Turkey’s emphasis on regional stability. Erdoğan’s message suggested that a more cooperative regional environment would not only ease pressure on Lebanon, but also create conditions for greater security and recovery.
