The United States has imposed sanctions on six people and companies accused of helping Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, and its transport network. The measures were announced Thursday and apply to entities spread across four countries.
According to the announcement, the sanctions focus on alleged support for moving military equipment. US authorities said the activity involved assistance to the IRGC as well as Mahan Air, an airline that has long drawn scrutiny over claims that it has been used to support Iranian operations beyond civilian transport.
By blacklisting the targeted individuals and firms, Washington is seeking to disrupt the networks it says make these shipments possible. Sanctions typically aim to cut off access to the US financial system and make international business dealings more difficult for those listed.
The move adds to broader US pressure on Iran-linked organizations and support channels tied to security and logistics activity. It also signals continued attention from Washington on cross-border networks that allegedly help transfer equipment for the IRGC.
