Donald Trump is asking the U.S. Supreme Court for more time as he considers his next step in a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton tied to Russia-related claims he has long argued were false. In a new filing, he requested an additional month to review a November appellate ruling that left the case dismissed.
The legal fight centers on Trump’s effort to revive claims against Clinton over allegations connected to the Russia investigation narrative. The appeals court upheld the dismissal of the lawsuit, dealing another setback to his attempt to keep the case alive.
The appellate decision also added financial pressure. Based on the court record referenced in the filing, the panel imposed penalties approaching $1 million, raising the stakes around any further appeal.
At this stage, the Supreme Court has not agreed to hear the dispute. Trump’s filing asks only for extra time to decide whether to submit a full petition seeking high court review, while the lower court ruling remains in effect.
