Russia's Foreign Ministry has described Ukraine's reported overnight UAV attack on ships at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium marine terminal as terrorist in nature. The statement was delivered in Moscow on Thursday by ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
Based on the information released, the incident involved drones targeting vessels at the CPC marine terminal. Russian officials framed the strike as part of a broader escalation and used strong language to characterize the attack.
Zakharova also pointed to Washington in her comments, saying she doubted the White House was unaware of what was happening. She said the United States, which she said has influence on Ukraine, should provide what Russia considers an adequate assessment of Kyiv's actions.
The remarks add to the already tense rhetoric surrounding the war and its wider regional impact. They also place renewed attention on security around energy-related infrastructure linked to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
