Telangana Cyber Crime Police have registered two cases linked to alleged objectionable social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the report, the action covers operators of several Facebook and Instagram accounts as well as the head of Meta India.
The complaints reportedly claimed that morphed and offensive material about the prime minister was being circulated online. The cases were said to have followed submissions from BJP supporters, who flagged the posts and asked for police action over the content.
The development puts the focus on how authorities are handling complaints involving political content on major social platforms. It also highlights the legal scrutiny that can extend not only to account operators but, in some situations, to company representatives connected to the platforms involved.
