Microsoft is signaling that a major Windows 11 update will focus on making laptops with 8GB of RAM feel much smoother in daily use. The direction was outlined by Windows chief Pavan Davuluri, who shared new priorities for the operating system as the company moves toward the fall update cycle.
Based on Davuluri’s remarks, Microsoft has been working since March on fixes and broader improvements across Windows 11. A key part of that effort appears to be better performance on more modest hardware, which is important because many mainstream laptops still ship with 8GB of memory.
If those changes arrive as expected, users on lower-RAM machines could see a more responsive experience when multitasking, opening apps, and moving around the system. That would address one of the most common complaints about Windows 11 on entry-level and midrange devices, where limited memory can make the OS feel heavier than many users want.
The update also suggests Microsoft is continuing to refine Windows 11 rather than only adding new features. With Davuluri outlining fresh areas of focus for the months ahead, the company appears to be putting more attention on core usability, stability, and efficiency for everyday PC owners.
