Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Saturday that the Lebanese Army should be the country’s only armed force, setting out a position centered on exclusive state authority in Lebanon.
Aoun also said there should be no legal weapons outside the state’s jurisdiction. His remarks underscored the principle that arms must remain under official national control rather than beyond government oversight.
The statement places the Lebanese Army at the center of Aoun’s vision for security and governance. By stressing that no legal weapons should exist beyond state authority, the president framed the issue as one of sovereignty and the rule of law in Lebanon.
