Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, hosted a send-off gathering in Kathmandu for Nepali government officials heading to Japan under the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship, widely known as JDS. The event took place at the ambassador’s official residence in Tahachal as the selected fellows prepared to begin their studies.
The JDS program supports human resource development by giving government officials an opportunity to pursue higher study in Japan. For Nepal, the latest group of fellows represents another round of academic and professional exchange focused on strengthening public-sector knowledge and skills.
The send-off ceremony highlighted the continuing education partnership between Nepal and Japan. It also underscored Japan’s role in supporting capacity building through scholarship opportunities for officials who are expected to return with new expertise and broader international exposure.
With the fellows now set to start their academic programs, the event served as both a formal farewell and a sign of the close ties between the two countries. The scholarship initiative remains an important part of Nepal-Japan cooperation in education and public service development.
