At least nine people were killed and 33 civilians were wounded after Russia launched an overnight wave of ballistic missiles and drones at Kyiv into Saturday, according to authorities. The attack struck the Ukrainian capital just days after another major Russian assault, underscoring the continued pressure on the city.
One of the reported impact areas was Kyiv’s Solomianskyi District, where falling debris damaged a five-story residential building. A fire broke out at the site, adding to the danger for residents as emergency crews moved in.
Rescue workers evacuated 35 people from the upper floors of the building as teams responded to the damage and searched affected areas. The combination of missile strikes, drone attacks and falling debris appeared to cause harm across multiple parts of the capital.
The latest barrage adds to a pattern of repeated Russian attacks on Kyiv, with civilian neighborhoods again caught in the aftermath. Emergency services and local officials continued assessing destruction and casualties following the strike.
