Marvel Studios' long-developing Blade reboot appears to be finished after years of uncertainty. The project was first unveiled in July 2019 during Marvel's post-Avengers: Endgame Phase 4 rollout, with Mahershala Ali attached to star as the vampire hunter.
At the time, Blade stood out as one of the studio's most intriguing announcements. Ali's involvement gave the film instant prestige, and the character's return suggested Marvel was ready to expand into a darker supernatural corner of its universe.
Instead, the movie became known more for delays and frustration than forward momentum. What began as an exciting 2019 reveal stretched across multiple years, and the reported end of the project now closes the chapter on one of Marvel's most anticipated unreleased films.
The bigger question is what happens to Blade next. Marvel still controls the character, and Ali remains closely tied to the role in fans' minds, but the path forward is now unclear. Whether Blade is reworked in a different form or saved for a later plan, the version announced in 2019 no longer seems to be moving ahead.
