Casio has officially introduced two new G-Shock G-Steel watches, the GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A, after the models appeared in earlier leaks. The new releases bring a sportier take on the G-Steel lineup by swapping the full-metal bracelet style for a lighter resin and silicone-focused design.
According to the announcement details, the new watches keep the core features found on their full-metal counterparts. That includes the rugged build the G-Shock range is known for, along with Bluetooth connectivity and Casio's Tough Solar charging system.
The main change is the overall wearability and look. By moving to silicone straps and a lighter case approach, Casio appears to be aiming these models at buyers who want the G-Steel style and feature set in a less heavy, more athletic format.
Casio is launching the GST-B1000-1A and GST-B1000-2A first in Japan, where each model is priced at ¥60,500, or about $384. Their debut adds to a broader wave of recent Casio releases, as the company continues expanding its watch lineup with new materials and design variations.
